COLD, TRAINS AND THE WHOLE DAMN CITY

So my story begins as I'm jumping on the Dundas street car to get to the Broadview Subway station just a short trip from where I live. It's a cold nippy day and I'm looking forward to walking into my Favorite music store Long&Mcquade while I salivate over the neat cool toys and pay some money on my new sound card that I bought last month. Low and behold as we cross Bloor street myself and the other passengers notice a collection of emergency vehicles around the station. More police cars than anything and I'm saying to myself 'wtf' is going on now. Only because the word delay was also on my brain with a variety of other shenanigans that could have brought out so much EM personnel. As we all exit the street car I have my ears open to pick up any kind of word on what the hell is going on. At this point there's a boat load of people gathered on the bus platform and inside the station. Police personnel are telling everyone the subway is closed. I make my way inside literally pushing past people to grab a transfer but more  so to get near an officer seeing if could over hear any pertinent info. A woman with a stroller was telling an officer of what she saw but I could only pick out pieces of it. My Sherlock Holmes hat was in full effect. At this point it was obvious somebody was hurt or killed on the subway. An East Indian Gentleman interrupted the story from the woman to get the officers attention claiming he had important information. He displayed a small handbag to the officer.
At this point I'm saying to myself 'fuck' then I guess somebody did jump. But really couldn't be sure. He went on and with his thick accent and the noise of the surrounding people I could only make out the tone of what he was saying than anything else.

I heard a number the other day that the amount of people that kill themselves on the toronto subway is about 50 a year. This causes tons of delays to passengers and thousands if not hundreds of thousands of lost dollars to the TTC. I'm guessing  Because people decide to end this life with a leap into a couple hundred tons of locomotion. Sweet.
We are soon ushered outside by the officers telling us the subway is closed meaning they will be removing somebody from the subway that they don't want anyone the see. That's what I concluded in my Sherlock Holmesness. I have to admit there is an air of surrealness to the whole damn thing. Not the idea of a person committing suicide but the calm and procedural process of keeping people in the dark as we were children. I'm standing around in the fricken cold which is really my anger speaking but saying to myself, WE ARE NOT CHILDREN!!! Tell us what the fuck is going on. But then I quickly remember what society I'm in. It seams if I want the news of where I'm at then I have to go home and hope the very same news is big enough that some news station might carry it.
Is it just me are is it too obvious the TTC has an understanding with the police and the news stations about reporting on suicides. Do they think this will urge more people to go out and 'go out in style'? But like I said this just my anger talking. Because if you're gonna make me stand in the damn cold for longer than I have to and then take a long ride on a slow shuttle bus then you could at least tell me the reason why. But then we are a society addicted to being spoon fed packets of info. So everything fits.

HOW TO KILL IN PLAIN SIGHT AND GET AWAY WITH IT

So the verdict has been past down for Robert Dziekanski who was killed two years ago on Oct. 27 at a Vancouver air port by the RCMP after being Tasered repeatedly and sat on into a suffocating death. Now I don't know about anyone else but the 4 RCMP officers (Gerry Rundel, Bill Bently, Kwesi Millington, and supervisor Corporal Benjamin Robinson) getting off scott free isn't any big surprise to me. Call me a pessimist although I'd like to consider myself the eternal optimist but I can't think of a case in Canada in which a civilian died at the hands of the police who were then charged with any wrong doing. In the case of Dziekanski I'd like to know just how can you make an assessment of someone who is clearly upset within 25 seconds of being in front of them.
Whatever the case that man didn't deserve to die. Homicide is a strong word but what other word should be used to describe a case of clearly causing pain and harm enough to kill somebody. These guys ain't idiots. Oh my bad, maybe they are idiots. I'm always amazed at how the police subdue a person and then sitting of them to cut of their air supply as if to say they are restraining you. Then they got the-ahhhhh- the Taser! the supa dupa Taser. Make your perps wiggle and convulse, providing you with hours upon hours of fun stories for your cop buddies to retell at the bar. Hurraaayyy!!! And when somebody gets killed, oops sorry, just a little mishap, they had a condition. Ahh the police, you gotta love em.
One good thing I suppose can come of this is the review of the Vancouver air port procedures regarding someone who doesn't speak English, their also failure to call paramedics in time, the RCMP use of - I'll call them 'Friendly Fire Weapons'.
In the end though what does it say about our society when someone who is in need of help, clearly frustrated after hours on hours of going in circles from procedures, acts out although causing no harm to anyone else, and ultimately ends up dead.

RE-WIRE

I missed the opportunity to see this short little gem cause the time of the premier I was tied up with my weekly Airkid's director meeting. I came upon the web site and only saw the screen shots which are great. They now have a trailer. It was shot on the Red camera which I am currently selling blood for in large amounts to afford. If I keel over on my computer keyboard don't mind me.
Anyway visually it looks great and I love the concept. Shot by a film maker name David-James Fernades. Props man. And I haven't even seen the damn thing yet. I'm an instant fan. Re-wire.

Tiger's Gnawing Delemna

So ultimately I had to throw my comments into the fray with all the frantic media hoopla buzzing about. For my second post it's about gossip-chicks and the for iron, cause I've always been an admirer of Tiger Woods and feel kinda bad about his situation (although not bad enough to stop me from whipping up this piece in Photoshop) but bad none-the-less.

We all don't want to see the good guys get skewed in public most notable one of the most successful of all time. An by all accounts I would put Tiger in the good guy catagory. I mean can you think of any smart remarks he made to the media, any drunken DUI's in one his many Buicks that he always wins, or even making any disparaging comment that made some white people unhappy. Hell no. In all intents he was loved by all black folks and white people alike. I think even the guys on the golf course who's asses he kicked loved him.

But are we talking now about the man or the champion. If it's the champion then he really hasn't done anything wrong. He's just doing what he's done for the better part of his life. See something that he wanted and go after it. And probably let nothing stand in his way. The man on the other hand is every bit as falable as you and I. Feels like everything is on his shoulders, might seek attention from outside the marriage if he ain't getting it at home. And by attention I'm not talking sexual. Gets annoyed with certain things his partner may do but says nothing trying to be the good husband because what the hell could you complain about when you're making in excess of a few hundred million dollars a year. And so the man went out and dipped his weener into a few places that were off limits...well maybe a bit more than a few places but he's still human, surprise surprise. And to top it off Woods announced today he'll be taking an indefinate break from golf to work on his marriage and family. http://web.tigerwoods.com/news/article/200912117801012/news/
That sucks. But in the long run a good thing if you're attempting to turn a negative into a positive.

So this is the first in a series of tinkerings that i'll sand blasting into this ever expanding cyber domain. It came about from many months of mulling and contemplating but finally I gave in and decided it was time. Yes, yes i'm talking about my first blog. I'll be blunt and direct for no other reason than that's an advanced rule to this here poststation. I have to say whats on my mind. No subject will be too off topic or too small. Or for that matter too large. My sense of humor will rattle some and tickle others. But thats ok. I welcome the read.

A little about me i geuss i'll get into...yikes...just a sec---man, this blog stuff is not as easy as it seams is it. Feels kinda invading or is it i'm just not used to standing infront of 30 people and dropping my pants. Either way I'll carry on and reveal the real reason why I began this blog...mmmmuuuuhahahah...
To take over the world of course
